Command-line tools

nextneural_coach ships two CLIs alongside the server, built into apps/nn_coach/bin/ by make build APP=nn_coach.

Both read the same configuration the server does — NN_COACH_DATABASE_URL, or DATABASE_URL, or an .env file — so they operate on the same database without a running server.

NN_COACH_DATABASE_URL (or DATABASE_URL) is required

coachctl​

Administration: creating the first account, and anything else that needs doing before or outside the web console.

apps/nn_coach/bin/coachctl --help

This is how you bootstrap a deployment — the database starts empty, and coachctl creates the first account without needing a browser. The alternative is POST /api/nn-coach/auth/signup, which needs a working email provider to deliver the OTP.

simctl​

Running simulations from the command line: the same runs the API creates, driven from a shell.

apps/nn_coach/bin/simctl --help

Useful for batching a scenario suite in CI — run every scenario against a changed prompt and compare verdicts before the prompt ships.

Building them​

make build APP=nn_coach

Produces all three binaries in apps/nn_coach/bin/: nn_coach (the server), coachctl, and simctl.

The server binary is cmd/nn_coach, not cmd/server

Which is why make run APP=nn_coach fails and make run APP=nn_coach BIN=nn_coach works. apps/nn_coach/dev.sh handles this and starts the front end too; ./dev.sh --no-build reuses the existing binary.
